An Integrative Analysis On Listening Test

Abstract

Testing is an important part of every teaching and learning experience. It can be divided into language sub-skills testing and communication skills testing. The former is composed of vocabulary tests, grammar tests and pronunciation tests. The latter includes listening tests, speaking tests, reading tests and writing tests. This paper is mainly concerned with listening tests, which are the most important of all communication skills tests.
This thesis begins with a brief introduction to the social background and the overall purpose for writing this paper. Then it provides an overview of the history and current status of language testing and outlines to the possible factors that affect the listening test. And then it looks into the way to improve the students’ listening ability and make the test more valid and reliable. Referred to the case study,it is the most significant part of the paper, which is concerned with how to find the poor items of a listening test through item analysis so as to improve the quality of the test and in the mean time to enhance the testing reliability and validity. Last it arrives at the conclusion on listening tests.

摘  要

语言测试是语言教学和语言学习的重要组成部分.语言测试可分为语言微技能测试和交际能力测试。语言微技能测试包括词汇测试,语法测试和语言测试。交际能力测试包括听力测试,口语测试,阅读测试和写作测试。本文主要探讨最重要的交际能力测试,听力测试。
本文首先简要介绍了英语听力测试的现状,并且指出了影响听力测试的诸多因素。紧接着讨论了怎样提高学生的英语听力能力以及怎样来使测试更具信度和效度。实例分析为本文的核心部分。通过对实例进行研究,作者试图采用题项分析的方法对听力测试的结果进行诠释,以便找出质量差的题项进行改进,从而提高试题的质量,保证测试的信度和效度。最后,作者对听力测试进行了概括总结。
